Evert was born in Ghent (Belgium) in 1993. In 2016, he graduated magna cum laude with a Master of Chemistry from Ghent University. After a short research visit with the research group of Prof. Jonathan S. Owen at Columbia University (USA), he received a competitive FWO predoctoral fellowship at Ghent University (Belgium). Since he has been taking the use of solvents and ligands in nanocrystal synthesis critically under the loop, under supervision by Prof. Isabel Van Driessche, Prof. Jonathan De Roo, Prof. Klaartje De Buysser and Prof. Wim Van Paepegem.
