The result of a fantastic collaboration with the Tiefenbacher Lab. This paper fits in our efforts to create ligands with extremely high binding affinity for nanocrystal surfaces. Although succesful, we also discuss the intrinsic limitations of multidentate ligands in general.

Our X-Ray PDF Diffractometer commissioned!!
Pair Distribution Function Analysis (PDF) or Total scattering technique enables the structural characterisation of materials such as nano-structures, amorphous materials, polymers and pharmaceutical ingredients which lack long range periodicity.
On tribute to Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for the discovery of X-rays, we call it "Röntgen".


UV-Vis just arrived !

Mahsa Parvizian just joined the group as PhD student. She graduated from the University of Paris Diderot and will be working on developing nanocrystals as artificial mitochondria in molecular systems. Welcome!                               

Loren Deblock just joined the group as visiting PhD student. He is from the Ghent University. At the University of Basel, he is currently conducting a one-year research stay as part of this PhD studies. Welcome!   


Our CEM Microwave devices are installed and ready for use. With camera option and first scale up of our nanocrystals!    

Rohan Pokratath just joined the group as PhD student. He is from India and will work on the characterization of nanocrystals using X-ray Pair Distribution Function analysis. Welcome!

Dietger Van den Eynden just joined the group as PhD student. Dietger graduated from Ghent University (Belgium) and will focus on the controlled synthesis of metal oxide nanocrystals. Welcome!
