Evelina was born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1997. She did her bachelor’s in chemistry in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and her master’s in molecular sciences in the University of Amsterdam and Free University of Amsterdam. During her master’s, she conducted her thesis on “Nd³⁺ sensitized upconversion nanoparticles and their colour tuning based on an Er³⁺ doping strategy”. Currently, she is pursuing a joint PhD  degree in scintillator nanoparticles for optogenetics, supervised by Prof. Jonathan de Roo (University of Basel), Adrian Wanner (PSI) and Celestino Padeste (PSI).
